ESC (electronic stability control) fault warning light
Drive with cautionSafety warning — do not ignore this light
This warning light indicates a potentially serious fault. Do not continue driving. Stop in a safe location and contact an authorized service center or roadside assistance. Never attempt to inspect high-voltage or safety-critical components yourself.
What this light means
This light comes on when the ignition is switched on and normally goes out within a few seconds if electronic stability control (ESC) is functioning properly. If it stays on, the ESC has failed, though the ABS and normal braking system continue to operate.
Immediate actions
- 1Drive more cautiously, especially in corners, wet weather or on loose surfaces, since stability assistance is unavailable.
- 2Contact a BYD authorized dealer or service provider for inspection.
What to check
Confirm whether the light is flashing briefly (normal operation) or staying solidly on (fault)
Reduce speed in corners and on slippery surfaces until checked
Book an inspection with an authorized BYD dealer or service provider
Possible causes
- ›Official handbook source: a component monitored by the ESC warning-light system has developed a fault.
- ›Momentary flashing while driving is normal and indicates the ESC system is actively working, not a fault.
